Blast From the Past! My Favorite Childhood Books

Think back to your old childhood bedroom. What was on the walls? Was your floor covered in clothes, toys books and other miscellaneous items that your mom always yelled at you to clean up? How about your bed and the sheets? Was it made up or crumpled? Ahhh the nostalgia… What a simple time. Look back on your room, what books did you read if you were a big reader back then?

I know mine! I actually still have some of my favorite childhood reads, I just can’t give them up! This post is dedicated to some of my favorite childhood books and I hope this inspires you to think about yours and why they are so special to you.

I like to think of myself as a fast reader, and in my youth I was able to read through books like I eat popcorn… In handfuls! My list is more from my late childhood/early tween years as I read too many books as a young person to remember them all! These are a few of my more memorable books from my youth; I hope you enjoy!

1. The Sight by David Clement-Davies. I picked this one up from the library when I was young, my mom used to bring a big red canvas bag and we would fill that bag to the brim of books to bring home. This book is about wolves and while I do not remember the exact story, I have such fond memories of this book that I actually read it twice as a kid!

2. Any Goosebumps book by R.L. Stine. I love this series. Shrunken heads, cameras that kill people, scary sponges that hide under the sink… Where can you go wrong? These books are some of the best in childhood horror in my opinion and were staples on my shelves for years. Fun fact, I have a signed copy of The Haunted Mask by R.L. Stine and it’s one of my most prized possessions!

3. The Day my Butt Went Psycho by Andy Griffiths. This book is just plain hilarious and my 8 year old mind just ate it up like candy. This book follows a young boy who’s butt falls off and goes to join an army of butts trying to take over the world! What child doesn’t love that!?

That my list! What’s yours?
