The Lost and Forgotten: The Books You Buy and Forget to Pick Up

What’s the last book you bought and never read? How long has it been since you’ve picked up one of those long forgotten books?

I am notoriously bad for this. I love the process of buying books… It is so comforting. I love going into the store and wandering around, looking at every book. Then getting home with my finds to reorganize my shelves to fit my new books… I love it. This often means that I add to my shelves more than I read on most occasions and I’m sure many of you do too! Since I have so many, here is a snippet of some of my books that have been sitting on my shelves for ages!

1. The Devine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. I have been dying to read this epic for a long time. I am not a big poem person so I was unsure of getting the books to begin with, but took the plunge a few months ago! This epic poem is split into a trilogy and is about hell, purgatory and paradise… and although I am not the religious type this book has always fascinated me. This one is on the top of my list!

2. Dracula the Undead by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt. I picked this up at Value Village (Best place to buy books!) and sadly just haven’t picked it up yet. It is the sequel to Dracula by Bram Stoker and was written by his great grand nephew in 2009!

3. The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer. This one I picked up in a for sale bin while getting groceries. In my younger years I was absolutely in love with the Twilight series and when I saw this book I just had to pick it up! I am curious to see how she has grown as an author since Twilight and am really excited to dive in and read one of my favorite childhood authors again.

4. Shroud of Eternity by Terry Goodkind. This is his second book in the Nikki Chronicle’s, which is an offshoot of his Sword of Truth Series. I am excited to see where to takes this series and to once again get to read about the incredible world Terry Goodkind has created.
